Hollywood Wax Museum, Pigeon Forge, TN

This was an add on to an already busy trip, but we are so glad we made the time! This turned out to be a very fun and interactive family adventure.

TIP: When you visit the wax museum, they ask you if you want the Castle of Chaos ticket (its in the adjacent building) for only about $10 more, you say, "YES!"

Rating:

Full Six-pack! A great way to spend the day unplugged while using your smartphone for what it was made for - a thin camera!

This is a self guided tour of the wax museum and they have posing props at each station. This gets more fun as you go and when you see how other people are posing with the props you will go back and take a few more photos.

The Hollywood wax museum was surprisingly fun, offering 2 floors of celebrities, old and new. They encourage you to pose with the characters and even provide props to use. This is where the fun became infectious. Barbra Jean Jo Barbara and Randy Randerson aren't strangers to silliness, so seeing what the people around them were doing with the props, having a knowledge of the movie scenes (Randy Randerson knows them all and will act them out on demand with full dramatic flair, even in church), and having no shame what so ever led to a fun and playful afternoon.

The museum shares a parking lot with the Castle of Chaos. Spring for the ticket, it's an extra $10 when you get the wax museum ticket. It has a mirror maze, an interactive 4D game, and a zombie run.

The maze of mirrors was okay, but it got frustrating after the 9th time around thinking you had found your way out only to find that you had circled back to the start! We invented a mirror related curse word here. We followed some children that led us to our freedom.

Castle of Chaos was an interactive game where you sit in seats like a theater, wearing 3D glasses, and shoot at bugs from an Egyptian tomb coming at you on the screen. It keeps track of your "kills". This was fun because just when you think it is just a game on the wall, the seats you are in are attached to a spindle that spins the entire floor around. It was quite a ride. This room and might be an issue for those with motion sickness tendencies. Barbra Jean Jo Barbara gets motion sickness like an elderly cat, but was fine with this ride.

If you like haunted houses, then we definitely recommend Outbreak. This was our favorite. As far as haunted houses go, this is one of the best and longest. Barbra Jean Jo Barbara and Randy Randerson aren't startled easily and never flinch (except in the case of june bugs and spiders - they are just creepy) and this one made us jump! Randy Randerson peed a little, but will never admit it. We wouldn't recommend it to young children. This has live players as well as animatronics. Very well done.

All in all, this wax museum and its extra adventures are worth a couple hours of your time.

Tip:

Take your time and be a kid for a while in the wax museum, be silly - life is too short.
