Three words - De-Light-Full!

Rating:

5 frosty beers served with wonderful southern hospitality. A great little park that is very family friendly.

Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit! This place is too cute. We had talked to quite a few friends that had been to Dollywood to hear their experiences and they had offered mixed reviews on the park, so we weren't sure what to expect. We were as perplexed as a woodchuck with a pair of safety scissors.

We arrived to find a well thought out park from the easy access

RV parking to the indoor lines for the rides. We never felt rushed, we felt like we could stroll from ride to ride and sill get it all in.

The Park is built around Dolly Parton's enormous southern flair with wooden buildings that looked like log homes and a frontier town feel. The atmosphere is down home and comfortably slow. Relaxed. There is country music playing everywhere, some of it is classic Dolly, some of it live singers but not overwhelming, more of a background pleasant sound.

We were pleased to find that they offered a lot of home-style cooking ans well as the regular park food. At lunch, we were served by a waitstaff dressed in Little House on the Prairie clothes with friendly southern hospitality and flair. The food was good and it was a great break in the day.

We had been told that this was a small park, but we found it to be a good size park with many more rides than we expected. The lines for the rides were primarily inside in the air-conditioned breezes and the wait time wasn't bad at all.

Some of our favorites from the day were the Wild Eagle, the winged steel roller coaster, and the Firechaser Express, it runs forward and ends in a dynamite factory explosion around you, then it runs the same track in reverse. The Mystery Mine was a traditional steel coaster, but is built into the hillside and takes advantage of the terrain. It climbs the steep hills, then plunges down into darkness as it descends into the mine-shaft.

Overall, from the parking, the lines, the food, the shops, all of it is well thought out, immaculately clean, and very family friendly.

Dolly herself is often at the park as this is in her home town and she had been at the park for a parade the day before we were there, so there is a chance to actually see Dolly while you are there.

We found Dollywood to be cute and kitchy with southern charm. Delightful.
