Crazy Horse

Save your money - the best view is from the highway. There is a turnoff to enter the Crazy Horse parking area from the highway and there is a little souvenir stand with parking. Park there and zoom in - better photos than in the complex.

Rating:

1 warm beer, and it would be a grocery store brand, no name brands. And that's only because the bathrooms were clean.

This monument obviously had ambitions to be like Mount Rushmore but it was never finished and has been under construction for more than 50 years.

If you do go inside, against the better advice of your hosts here, You will pay $20 to enter and that gets you parking. Then you will pay to go into the gift shop and museum. This gets you to the balcony where you can see the same view as you would have had on the road only 100 yards closer, but still a half mile away. Then you can pay to get onto a bus to go another 100 yards closer... and that's as close as you can get. It is literally the same view from the street, but you will have $80 still in your pocket.

The museum has the history of the build and there are some souvenirs for Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. They collect tax on these items, but because you are on Indian land, they pay no tax. Honestly, if you aren't into museums, you should skip this. Get the history by Googling it. Plan something else for the 40 minutes it takes to get into a space in the parking lot and go upscale on Dinner with all the money you saved.

View from the museum and gift shop

RV tips: If you do decide to go, there is plenty of parking for RVs and any other vehicle.
